Carmen was founded in Paris as both a literary salon and an editorial bureau. A point of attraction for writers, readers, thinkers, collectors, antique enthusiasts and aesthetically discerning minds who reject the utilitarian nature of culture in favor of its transcendent function. We publish thematically unrestricted and intellectually uncompromising print and digital magazines. Each issue is a carefully constructed constellation of texts that dissolve genre boundaries: essays, prose fiction, poetry, archival materials brought back into intellectual circulation; and visual works. Our literary salon is a collective of the intellectually restless, the aesthetically austere, and the philosophically devoted.
FOUNDER AND OWNER:
Elina Christine Karickaja
Poetess, uprising art historian, photographer and connoisseur of antique material culture descending from a lineage of collectors. She defines the core of Carmen with her curatorial vision and strategic orientation, ensuring the coherence of its aesthetic, editorial, and philosophical foundations.Her cultivated vision defines the core of Carmen.
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF;
Nicolas Kantor H.
Essayist, dramatist, and writer with a background in philosophy and archival studies. Their vision directs Carmen’s editorial programme, curates its textual constellation, and upholds the intellectual rigor and formal precision of its publications.
